Nadia lives in the city of Canaan where everyone writes down there memories in there books so that they don't forget . The forgetting happens every 12 years . The first book ,the rule book states ''Without my memories I am lost .'' The city is usually quiet and peaceful everyone having their job planting ,dying cloth , archiving or teaching in the learning center . But when the forgetting happens and everyone loses their memories the city falls into chaos until the council leaders sort out the mess return people to there homes the citizens start to read their books and remember the truths they have written in their books ... their memories .
You are only supposed to write the truth in your book . Nadia knows whether someone has written the truth what they have or have not truly forgotten because Nadia is the only one in Canaan who has never forgotten .When Nadia goes on a search for answers as to why they forget and what her memories mean , she teams up with Gray the glass blowers son they search for answers together and race against time before the next forgetting to stop the chaos of the forgetting's past that she remembers and to keep Gray from forgetting the only true friendship and love Nadia has ever known.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK !! I have not enjoyed a book this much since the divergent series .The thought out characters and plot of this book were amazing and had my adrenaline pumping .This is one of the books that is getting a lot of attention and hype and in every word written of this book it earned every bit of the hype . I loved the way that characters places and situations were described time was taken to make this book adventurous ,fictional and entertaining . I loved Nadia's quick wit and the way that Gray was able to make her open up and talk so we got to know Nadia more . Their relationship flowered and grew and it was nice to read.
I was pleasantly surprised by the enemy and happy with the ending and the way things turned out in this story. While I loved this book it will sound weird to say but I don't think that this book needs a sequel this book had everything wrapped up in a package and all my questions were answered . I want more of this book as far as the writing style and the imagination which were amazing but I don't know where the story would go after this .I would be excited to see though .
If you are looking for and exciting new dystopian ,young adult , sci-fi adventure this book is for you it will pull you into the world of Canaan and spit you back out with and epic book hangover in a good way! I hope the author keeps writing books like these its refreshing and unlike any other plot or book out there right now . I haven't devoured a book this fast since Game of thrones !Finally something new a new idea ! Seriously read this book !
